About

Thomas E Garrett has worked in the field of politics and advocacy for more than three decades. Before his election as the Secretary General of the Community of Democracies in September 2017, he supported reformers and democrats across the world with work in democracy, civil society support, women’s and young people’s political empowerment, and democratic governance in more than 80 countries. In 2017, the Government of Mongolia conferred the Order of Friendship on Garrett for his support to Mongolian democracy. He holds a master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations and his undergraduate degree is in Political Science.
